Ampelmann's motion compensated gangway for offshore access

Page last modified
April 11 2024

The A-type is the first motion compensated gangway system that actively compensates for a vessel’s motions by use of the hexapod. Six hydraulic cylinders compensate for motions in all degrees of freedom, increasing the workability of offshore operations.

In operation since 2008, the gangway remains stable in rough sea conditions and enables safe and efficient personnel transfers in sea states up to 3m Hs. The A-type can transfer 25 people in under five minutes from a vessel to a fixed or floating offshore asset, such as a wind turbine or offshore installation.
