An easy-to-use insulation self-inspection and reporting tool

Page last modified
April 11 2024

The TBI-App is an easy-to-use insulation self-inspection and reporting tool for anyone who wants to very quickly check and estimate how much energy and money saving potential a technical insulation system has to offer. The TBI-App is free of charge and can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.

The TBI-App offers a conservative estimation of the amount of energy a component is losing. In addition, it shows the potential savings if an uninsulated surface is insulated or if an improved insulation system is installed to replace the existing one.

The estimation methodology is based on:

1. Vast TIPCHECK experience: In 2010, European Industrial Insulation Foundation (EiiF) developed its insulation energy appraisal programme called Technical Insulation Performance Check. More than 2.500 TIPCHECKs have been carried out since the launch of the TIPCHECK Programme.

2. Simplified heat transfer formulas taken from the ISO 12241 Standard: Thermal insulation for building equipment and industrial installations – calculation rules.

3. Generic values allowing a conservative estimation: e.g., using 0 m/s wind speed by default and horizontal as the orientation of the system.

The TBI-App can be used offline. After being installed in the device no internet connection is needed and no data will be transferred to any server. All reports and data are stored solely on the TBI-App device and they can be transferred to your desktop device to be administered with the TBI-Software, a supporting tool available for purchase from the EiiF website.
