Quicker, cheaper and cleaner foundation installation

Grouted pile-jacket connections are known to be time-consuming, expensive and challenging. Napkin Innovation is developing a non-grouted connector (NGC) to cut the time, cost and risks linked to grouted connections.
Fabricated from steel and preinstalled on the jacket the NGC connector offers an almost instant lock. When the lock is instant and there's no grout, there's:
- No waiting 36-48 hrs for grout to cure
- No cost for a grout spread
- No risk of early age cycling
- No need for temporary clamping
In addition, the NGC, will facilitate the installation of increasingly heavy jackets by a greater range of vessels and at a time when installation vessels are in short supply.
Pros & Limitations
1
Cuts the cost of installation by up to EUR 27M per 1 GW compared to grout
1
Cuts CO2 emissions linked to installation by up to 33%
1
Allows the installation of heavier jackets/in deeper water by existing vessel fleet
0
Strategic partners are required to help bring the solution to market
