Marine Logistics - AI-based Optimisation, Digitalisation, Cost & Emissions Reduction Software
Application of Digitalisation & Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Reduce Costs and Emissions, Enhance Visibility and Facilitate Collaboration
Objectives :
- Marine Logistics Optimisation
- Emissions & Cost Reduction
- AI-based Strategic Fleet Planning & Optimisation
- Digital Transformation with Enhanced Visibility
- Ad hoc ('Uber' app) and pooled shared vessel capacity facilitation
- Standalone Applications & Integrated Suite ('Marine Control Tower')
Operational Benefits :
- Digital transformation of marine logistics
- Real-time visibility/input capability for designated stakeholders
- Easy and quick evaluation of future fleet requirements
- Stress testing of operational scenarios
- Budgeting & Emissions Forecasting
- Integrated and interactive suite of applications – ‘Control Tower’
- Facilitates collaboration between operators - ad hoc ('Uber' app) and pooled vessel capacity sharing
- Online platform for new business model(s)
HSE Benefits :
- Emissions reduction - by using Artificial Intelligence/’Uber’ app approach
- Enhances Health & Safety - reduces risk/exposure through minimising vessel time at sea
- Emissions visibility, reporting, forecasting and options evaluation in-built
Other Applications :
- Subsea and well decommissioning programmes
- Offshore renewables
- Aviation (Helicopter) optimisation
- Facilitation & Optimisation of multi-user high value equipment/resource utilisation
Background :
Development work on these applications has been supported by the NZTC, RGU, Scottish Enterprise, BP, CNOOC and Equinor with later input from TotalEnergies, all of whose assistance is greatly appreciated. The Short-Term Vessel Capacity Sharing and Digital Daily Lookahead applications are standalone products delivered via SaaS. They can also be part of the integrated marine logistics suite that includes Strategic Fleet Planning/Optimisation using Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based optimisation.
Functionality includes evaluation of standalone and collaborative multi-operator marine logistics operations with integrated cost & emissions forecasting alongside scenario stress-testing. All three applications are aimed at addressing digitalisation, optimisation, emission/cost reduction and enhanced visibility needs in the sector whilst at the same time offering the potential for new business models.
